Most of us acknowlege that our lives are strongly influenced by deep-seeded beliefs, or 'tapes,' that may not be serving us at all. Although the book offers practical solutions on how to overcome self-defeating behaviors that result from these tapes, I found the value of the book to be in its clear and concise identification of tapes themselves. Examples of self-defeating beliefs discussed in the book include "Saying yes when you want to say no," "Chasing after love and approval from a parent," "Procrastinating," and "Always having to be right."
